I talk about something not related to TV. Okay, that’s not exactly what the post is about, but I rarely do mention non-television things (I just love TV too much). I thought this was just too cool to not mention. December 2nd, there was a Full Moon. Well another one is set for this Thursday, the 31th (29 days later). That means, it’s a Blue Moon. They actually aren’t as rare, but it’s just cooler when it occurs in time for New Year’s.

Blue Moons occur about every 2.5 years (see, not that rare), but one to fall on New Year’s Eve occur about every 19 years (so, a little rarer).

I was watching the Rachel Maddow Show that I recorded on my DVR from Friday night, and one of the little news stories she touched on was some incident involving a Polish person racking in 50 traffic violations in Ireland, but had different addresses and such so was never “caught.”

Well, that’s because the name the officers were using was “Prawo Jazdy,” which is actually Polish for “driving license.” Mystery solved!

Anyway, after the episode I had already forgot what it was, so I searched Odd news on Yahoo! and such, and landed on the Reuters site and found it. Yeah!

So, yeah, the Irish officers are quite embarrassed.

Eh, Happy New Year!  What else is there to say.  In 20 days, we’ll have a new president in office.  ER ends in March.  There’s gonna be a 3-D episode of Chuck on NBC on Feb 2.  We’re gonna say goodbye to Stargate Atlantis and hello to Stargate Universe.  We’re gonna protest ABC’s decision on cancelling the fantastic Pushing Daisies. but at same applaud them bringing Scrubs back after NBC treated it like crap.  Reaper comes back for its 2nd season, unfortunately, got to wait all the way to March (boo! CW), but luckily, the whole 13 episode is supposed to air uninterrupted, like with 24 (which will also grace our small screens again, after, I don’t know (let’s see, season 6 ended in May…2007, so, long time between actual seasons, good thing we had the little TV-special, but it was still a long time). For our large screens, the prequel to Underworld arrives January 23rd. We’re gonna see the origins of Wolverine.  Be treated to JJ Abrams Star Trek resurrection.  Speaking of generel geekverse, maybe finally, we’ll see Fanboys hit theaters (what has it been, two years or something?), unfortunately, the recent Fox vs Warner debacle, there may be a delay in Watchmen. Another Transformers. Ratings aren’t high for FOX’s Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles, however, we’ll still have the movie franchise continue with Terminator: Salvation. Speaking of FOX, we’ll see the return of Joss Whedon, along with former slayer Eliza Dushku, to television in Dollhouse. Oh, and let’s not forget the death of analog TV, as the digital transition is forced to completion in February. And this is just the first half of the year, there will be more to come.

I’m just bored and love this show, and in light of why all the once highly rated shows (such as Heroes) have taken a plunge in ratings, well, at least this show is up (probably b/c old people watch CBS and old people tend to be scared of new technologies, such as the TiVO, but anyway), Enjoy…

In light of continual articles related to Joss Whedon’s new upcoming series, Dollhouse, I figure I’ll make another post on it. I ran into a little piece on the SCI-FI WIRE, and let me tell you, I myself fear watching Dollhouse, just knowing that A) it’s FOX, B) it’s SCI-FI and on FOX, C) It’ll be on Friday nights and on FOX, and D) it’s a quality scripted series by Joss Whedon and on FOX. Hmm, seems like being on FOX is the main problem, but Whedon is overlooked it and decided to go with it, despite what had previously happened with him (with Firefly) and even what happened to Dollhouse star Eliza Dushku (with Tru Calling). You know the one thing I hate: Chain letters. Really, anything that tends to get forward, but I remember years ago when my cousin and some of my friends would send me those chain letters. Now, if I were a spammer and those things got to me, I would be the happiest person ever. Whenever things get forward, majority of people nicely stick those 10-15 names in the To: field, and forwards, always retain every email header of the previous lines of sent mail. Let me see if I can do a rough outline:

Alright, Person A gets a chain letter from her friend, which has been sent about 10 times before (the amount of email addresses would then build up), so something like this (I shortened it, but imagine about eight more Headers, and you’ll understand the idea of all those email addresses for the taking, and BTW, these are NOT real addresses, obviously (At least I hope it’s obvious).:

See, it can get pretty ridiculous, and also a note, the message is generally REALLY long, I’m just trying to keep things short. So, if you get these, just DELETE them. Because, it really makes sense that most of these were probably started by spammers knowing that eventually it’ll get back to them (and in terms of original chain letters of the paper mail system, just a person who played on peoples mind and convinced them to waste a stamp).

Here’s a good link on more on the subject, and how to continue a chain without feeding a spammer, if you’re just so superstitious and HAVE to hit the forward. Protect E-Mail Addresses from Spammers.

And if you’re lazy, and don’t want to click the link, I will do society a favor and at least mention one good way to do this, add addresses to the BCC: field, and just stick a dummy address in the regular To: field. If you got a forward, you can hit forward, but delete all the headers, well, everything, except the dumb message.
