The House Blocks DTV Delay Bill

Smart people do exist. The House voted on the DTV transition bill that Senate passed that would delay the digital transition to June 12th. And the vote was to keep the date of February 17th as scheduled, arguing that delaying would cost broadcasters money and confuse consumers. And yes, it would’ve cost a shit-load to broadcasters, and it would’ve confused consumers (since people do get easily confused). Furthermore, I think the delay would’ve been stupid on grounds that people would not care for it, and continue to procrastinate and ignore it, possibly requesting another delay. So, to the whiners, tough.

Unfortunately, the this is isn’t over, as some lawmakers (those that want the delay) could continue to push this and try to get it to pass before the Feb 17 deadline. Let’s hope that doesn’t happen, because I want the analog to go away, I think it’s in our best interest to stop changing our minds and stick with any planned events that have been known for at least four years (enough time, BTW).
